Update: The LP® SmartSide® Limited Warranty Now Protects Against Hail Damage

Just in time for severe weather season, LP has expanded its limited warranty coverage to include hail damage. The recent update to the LP® SmartSide® 5/50 Limited Warranty covers numerous LP products that can be used on outdoor sheds, including SmartSide Strand and Fiber Substrate Lap Siding, Panel Siding, Shake, Trim & Fascia, Soffit and ArmorStrand® Panel.

Hail Warranty Highlights

LP now warrants that its LP SmartSide products will resist hail damage (within limits) when properly installed and maintained. Highlights of the new coverage include:
  • LP SmartSide products will resist damage from hail, up to 1.75 inches in diameter, when properly installed and maintained according to the LP application instructions.
  • The Hail Damage Limited Warranty will be retroactive to January 1, 2017, so any installation on or after that date will have limited hail coverage.
  • The limited warranty covers products installed on structures permanently located in the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii or Canada.
  • The limited warranty excludes any damage caused by hail greater than 1.75 inches in diameter, and any damage to the paint on LP SmartSide products.
